About Me:
Well, let's see.. I'm 31, single and living in SW Florida. I enjoy working out, reading motivational and self-books (plus the occasional novel or memoir), dining out, drinking organic wine while engaging in meaningful conversation, laughing, listening to and discovering new music (can't get enough), writing, playing the guitar, drawing, and learning from people and life day after day after day...

Hello Pauline,
Below is a poem I just completed. I would like to read your poetry if that is OK with you. It might be easier to send poetry to my email address, jimburghorn@hotmail.com.

It Doesn’t Matter

Like an alcoholic stealing just one small sip, indulging in the self-pity of regret wakes up a mental monster that consumes, insidiously, your dignity and self-respect and perpetuates depression and despair. When tempted by the Devil posing as regret, beware, just stay in the present moment, count your blessings and thoroughly appreciate, admire, savor and enjoy all the things you’re grateful for.
The reminiscent, romantic phrase, “the good old days” is the common refrain for the dead and dying.
What happened in the past, recent or distant, simply doesn’t matter.

Fantasizing an ideal future is a gas and even helps to bring it about, but objecting to or obsessing to perfect, relive or change the past, to undo the things you don’t like that linger in, possess or complicate your mind is like a little lamb, lost and lonely, seeking shelter from salivating wolves, insane with hunger.
What happened in the past simply doesn’t matter.

Even the sins, celebrations and mistakes of yesterday are materially irrelevant and as profoundly lost in the shifting sands as some insignificant thought or incident a million years ago in time.
There’s nothing you can do about it except for letting go, getting over it and moving on.
What happened in the past simply doesn’t matter.

Even when the heavenly choirs are religiously singing your final swan song and death’s on your doorstep impatiently calling because you got it so wrong in the past and you’re in your bed screaming at God for not showing up fast enough and for continuing to simply ignore you no matter how much of yourself you surrender or how many hours you plead on your knees for relief from your un-healing, still, bleeding wounds and guilt-ridden sins sustained and committed in the un-Godly wars of aggression in your unforgiving, turbulent past,
There’s nothing you can do about it except for letting go, getting over it and moving on.
What happened in the past simply doesn’t matter.

The good news is, these sober, somber and serious matters of fact are actually quite liberating. It’s much easier to create what you want in the present than continuing to flounder around in the past trying to find it.

The past is gone, my friend, and the present continuously and quickly slipping away. You just have to learn to go with the flow, know your desires, take what you need and want from each fleeting moment and from the things you collect, if you so desire, build a vast and endless empire.
But even it, too, soon is lost in the shifting sands of time.
There’s nothing you can do about it except for letting go, getting over it and moving on.
What happened in the past simply doesn’t matter.
Just accept the cold, hard and obvious fact that the good old days and the past are gone forever. Find love, joy and your spiritual self in each new moment and you’ll possess the greatest gifts of all.

Hello Pauline,
Thank you for your message. I may be in Naples before long. I like to eat at Food and Thought. Do you ever go there? Maybe we could meet there for some interesting conversation. Do you like poetry?

Hello Pauline,

I see you are from Naples. I was just at Food and Thought last week. I get to Naples occasionally. I am developing a health resort at Warm Mineral Springs in Sarasota County. Do you know this place. Web site: www.warmmineralsprings.com.
