I've been veggie since April of 1999. After my partner came to me out of the blue and said, "I don't want to eat red meat any more." I decided to at least investigate the possibility that I too might give up eating my mammalian mates. I am and have always been the chef in the family. So I researched. I read countless books including, Diet For a New America, Diet For a Small Planet, The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight, Vegetarian Cookbooks, and then the final doosie that brought the house of cards down, Beyond Beef by Jeremy Rifkin. I couldn't even finish it. I got through most of it, but the information just kept getting more grewsome by the sentence.
Not only did we eliminate red meat, we eliminated all meats and frozen pizzas and GMO and conventionally grown foods, and dyes, additives, rennet, anything with msg, there is a long list of unwelcomed ingredients in my house. So now it has been almost 9 years that I have been a veg head, and I love the idea that all my cells are veggie. I believe vegetarians and vegan people who also take in only the purest of foods, and ingredients are clearer thinkers, and clearer in behavior and choice. There is so much that is happening in our food supply that is meant to dumb us down but we can use our God given right to choose, free will, we can choose health, intelligence and spiritual growth as well! We are but holographic cells on the body of our planet, and when we choose to wake up, and put in only the purest and finest things in us, only the purest and finest will come out. The Earth will reap the benefits and more will follow.
Hi there! Nice to meet you too :) Ahhh yes Aurora...I feel like my husband moved us out to the middle of nowhere sometimes, but it's nicer than our last place so I don't complain too much! lol
i sent you an veghaven message (top left envelop button), but i'm never sure if these get through or people even know they exist (took me a while to figure it out), so i'm letting you know via comment board.
Well, I'm from CA, so I still think the winters here are crazy. Although it will be in the 70s tomorrow. I'm still not used to the temperature extremes, so Chicago would be INSANE for me...
I'm starting to really like Nashville though. Took me years to feel this way, but I really do like it.

Come submit some fresh ideas! ... Otherwise we'll be stuck with a URL that makes us sound like a veggie dating site... yikes!
Please do your part to help get the word out ~ send a message to all your friends here at funveg! (Or whatever the heck our name is...!) We're solid in our identity as a thriving new community... we just haven't figured out what to call ourselves yet!
