Vegan, baby!
About Me:

Hmmmm.... I suppose I should start out by talking about my veganism and animal rights work, but nah, you're going to have to learn about ME first! I don't want to be judged before known, so here ya go...

ROBIN = Immature dork. 35 going on 13-year-old. I think things are funny that most people don't. I find myself in theaters being the only person laughing out loud. I guess nobody else is getting the jokes? I like strange and quirky things. I can be neurotic and unreasonable. I've been called stubborn my whole life. Must be the red hair ;)

But I am also very open-minded and love experiencing new things. I am overly sensitive and get my feelings hurt easily. I am loyal as hell to my friends and the people I love and would do anything for them. Most of my best friends I've known for 25+ years. When I'm your friend, I'm your friend for life. But if I'm taken advantage of or stabbed in the back I never forget it. I am told all the time that I'm too nice, and I get walked on sometimes because of it. But it's never made me less nice.

I love animals more than I like most people, and I'll admit it. I'm a vegan for ethical reasons, which means I don't eat, wear, or participate in anything that involves cruelty to animals or comes from animals. I became vegan for the animals, realizing that a person who declares their love of "all animals" while still eating or wearing some is a hypocrite. I believe they exist for their own reasons and do not belong to us humans to be used as slaves, regardless of what most of the population believes.

I am also an animal rights activist. And a supporter of direct action. I don't like being labeled, but I suppose my viewpoints might be considered "extreme" by some people. However, I really don't care. It doesn't matter to animals if we are radical, complacent, nice to others, polite, or politically correct. They only want to live free and without pain, agony and the cruelty that most of the terroristic animal abusing population subjects them to. So it will take a whole lot more to scare off those who choose to fight for the voiceless than threats from assholes who make their money off the lives of the innocent. We will never stop. We will never go away. We will always be there to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. Use your bullshit laws, media, lies, ignorant public. We will still win. We will never give in. Because the truth will prevail in the end.

I am very proud to be a member of the most kick-ass animal rights/liberation org in MD, the Baltimore Animal Rights Coalition (BARC). I also am BARC's webmistress, check out our website: www.baltimoreanimalrights.com. I also designed and maintain BARC's anti-foie gras website which exposes the cruelty behind the "delicacy" and the Baltimore restaurants that refuse to take it off their menus: www.DoNotEatHere.org

If you have questions about veganism or animal rights, I'd love to talk with you about it. I'm not a fan of preachy, self-rightious vegans, and so I try hard not to preach. But please don't challenge me or pick a fight with me on these issues, because you just won't win. There is nothing that would ever change my mind about my beliefs because there is no valid reason in this day and age that humans need to use animals for food, clothing, "sport," entertainment, or "scientific" research. Non-human animals are living, feeling beings, just like us, and feel fear, sorrow, pain and agony just like us. When you choose veganism you are choosing to reject the industries in which these animals are forced to suffer and die so horribly. Period.

I think this is probably the only life we'll ever get so I'd better make it count and do everything I ever dreamed of. I never want to look back and wish I had done things differently. And I haven't yet so far.

And one more thing...WAKE UP and QUESTION EVERYTHING!!!!

I post a bi-monthly upcoming events list for the Baltimore Animal Rights Coaltion (BARC) in bulletins and in my blogs. Feel free to message me with any questions about any of the events, and to pass along or repost the list!

Warm Fuzzies,
Robin

"Every animal with legs deserves the right to run. Every animal with fins deserves the right to swim. And every animal with wings deserves the right to fly. Is that so radical?"

Assaulted at Foie Gras Demo!

I got assaulted Saturday night at BARC's foie gras demo at Kali's Court in Fells Point. Some crazy drunk lady decided we were disturbing her dinner and came busting out with her teenage daughter, got in my face, pushed me, ripped the sign I was holding out of my hands and threw it on the ground. It took everything in me not to knock the bitch out (I'm small but effective, lol). But there was a reporter there and a camera man and I think if I would have done anything in retaliation they could hav… Continue
