Vegans & Vegetarians making a difference!

Say hello and tell everyone who you are. This discussion is to introduce who you are and why you are here. How did you come to find that your faith intersected with veg*nism?

I am new to VegHaven and wanted to share with other people of all sorts of faith about how their faith intersects with vegetarianism and veganism. So I thought it would be nice to have a group for discussion.

I am a vegan. I am a Tibetan Buddhist. Before I was a Buddhist I was vegetarian but after finding my faith and place in the world as a Buddhist and learning more about my faith I found that the teachings pointed me personally towards veganism. I knew how much suffering the dairy farm caused before becoming Buddhist but wasn't ready till I found my faith.

I should remember to log on here more often - still getting used to be being online more often these days =) I'm just a girl who has spent most of her life lost along the path. The last few years I've opened my eyes and read the roadsigns in my life. Although I am not Buddhist, I lean toward Buddha Dharma and appreciate the message of compassion and kindness for all sentient beings. We have to find balance in the world and within ourselves. Moving to a vegetarian diet was a no brainer - I no longer wanted to contribute to the suffering of animals just so I can have a hamburger or steak. There are too many alternatives out there to continue on that path. It's all interconnected and I'm just trying to do my small part - so here I am =) *waves*

Hello, I'm here, your (probably token) eclectic Pagan. :)
I make no promise whatsoever of tact in discussing religious matters.

Welcome...

Very good. Yay, Paganism. =-)

Feel free to make yourself at home.

I haven't been posting as often as I used to due to busy summer classes.

Summer school, bah! :)
Anyway, thanks. *gets comfy*

Yeah. These classes are really wearing me out. Very good.

Wow, I am gone for a bit and suddenly bunches of people join. Yay! =-)

Hi, my name is Kristen, I've recently gone vegan but I've been a vegetarian for a long time. My buddhist faith has inspired me to become vegan because it is a non violent religion that encourages equality, compassion and kindness. I'm glad to have found this group because I'd like to meet not only people of my faith but people of other religions because I think religion holds admirable moral values.

Thanks,
Kristen
