Making Biodiesel in the Garage

Inline Fuel Heater

This is an aluminum tube with a nichrome heating element attached using silicone tape. The heating element uses electricity from the cars alternator (electricity the car is already producing). This heats the veggie oil as it travels through the fuel line.

Hose In Hose Setup

This method uses the cars coolant, which (once the car has warmed up) is a nice 180 degrees Fahrenheit, to heat the fuel. An aluminum fuel line is run through a coolant hose which acts as a jacket.

Injection Line Heaters

These are attached to the injection lines (the fuel line right before the fuel injectors) and provide heat at the last critical place the fuel travels before being sprayed into the engine.
